Young bluesman will kick off national tour with release of new album

Grammy-nominated blues guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Christone “Kingfish” Ingram kicks off his national tour entitled, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram Presents 662: Juke Joint Live, on Friday, July 23 and Saturday, July 24 at the Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana in Gary.

His new album 662 will be officially released on July 23. Both weekend performances are free and begin at 9 p.m. on the Hard Rock Cafe stage. Must be 21 and up.

Ingram is an artist who has quickly become the defining blues voice of his generation.

In 2019, his debut album Kingfish was nominated for a Grammy. The 22-year-old has headlined two national tours and performed with friends including Vampire Weekend, Jason Isbell and Buddy Guy. He was interviewed by Sir Elton John on his Apple Music podcast and recently released a duet with Bootsy Collins.

In January 2021, Ingram was simultaneously on the covers of both Guitar World and DownBeat magazines. He then graced the cover of Living Blues in late 2020.

Rolling Stone declared, “Kingfish is one of the most exciting young guitarists in years, with a sound that encompasses B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix and Prince.”

According to Ingram, “The new album, 662, is an ode to my roots and a nod to Clarksdale, Mississippi, the area where I was born and raised. The title track, 662, encompasses how a small corner of the earth influenced my view of life and music.” The number 662 is the telephone area code for Ingram’s northern Mississippi home.
