3 killed when their vehicle rams semi near I-80/94 in Gary

Car had been stopped by Lake County Sheriff's Police
Lake County Sheriff’s Police are investigating a crash that killed three males early in the morning of Friday, October 4th on Grant Street near I-80/94.
Pam Jones, Public Information Liaison for the county sheriff said, “Before the crash, Lake County officers had conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle with three occupants near Ridge Road and Grant Street. But while officers were talking to the occupants, the car left the scene at a high rate of speed.”
Officers attempted to follow the car on Grant Street, but lost sight of it at the I-80/94 overpass. When officers arrived at the overpass, they observed the car had hit a semi tractor trailer.
Two of the occupants of the car died at the scene. The third occupant was transported to Methodist Northlake Hospital, and succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the semi refused medical treatment at the scene. The Lake County Sheriff's Department Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office identified two of the men as Elijah Faulkner, 18, of Hobart and Ramzy Clark, 18, of Gary.
Friday evening, the Lake County Coroner identified the third victim as Dominick McCree, 18, of Edinburgh, IN.
