Meals on Wheels needs volunteers

Next training session is Sept. 12

Meals on Wheels delivers meals throughout Northwest Indiana five days per week.

If you are looking to make a difference in your community, and in your waistline, why not help deliver meals in your neighborhood? Volunteer Manager Joan Vith said, “We have several volunteers who are exercising two or three times per week. Often while working out, they speak with others who are looking for things to do after exercise. We’re looking to find more who want to do something that can benefit others.”

The next orientation and training session is September 12, at 10:00 am, in the Meals on Wheels headquarters, 8446 Virginia Street, Merrillville. Training lasts one hour and ends with a tour of the building.

Vith said, “Volunteers are making their communities stronger every day by offering to support their neighbors. Volunteers help our clients remain in the homes and neighborhoods they love. We have a need for drivers throughout Lake County. We cannot meet our goals of meal delivery every day without the invaluable services of our volunteers.” Call Vith at 756-3663 to reserve a seat.
