Free rides for 3 children under age 14 with each personnel on off-peak and weekend trains

All veterans are invited to ride the South Shore Line for free on Veterans Day November 10 and through the weekend of November 11-12, 2017.

“We are honored to offer veterans and active duty military personnel (including reservists) free rides on the South Shore Line,” said Nicole Barker, Director of Capital Investment and Implementation at the SSL. “By welcoming them on the train for free, we hope to convey our gratitude for all they have done for our nation. It’s our way of thanking veterans for all they’ve done to keep our country safe.”

Barker said I.D. is not needed, “Just let our train personnel know you are a veteran or active duty and we will provide you a ride at no charge.”

On Veterans Day (Friday Nov. 10), trains will follow the regular weekday train schedule.

Up to three children under 14 years of age may ride free with each veteran on off-peak weekday and all weekend trains.

The South Shore Line operates between Millennium Station in downtown Chicago and the South Bend International Airport in South Bend, Indiana.
