Perseverance wins out over hardships at Flawlyss Co. LLC

At just 23-years-old, Alyssa Hunt thrives as an entrepreneur born and raised in our beloved city, Gary, IN.

As a licensed nail technician with her nail care service, Flawlyss Co. LLC, Hunt has been serving her community and fulfilling the requests of her clientele for the last four years. “Strong, confident, and beautiful.” These are just three of the words Hunt used to describe herself as an entrepreneur searching to solidify herself as a business woman in the community.

Hunt credits her success and drive as an entrepreneur to her parents who have “helped [her] make it as an individual and a business owner.”

After her self-realization of the motivation and problem-solving skills it takes to become an entrepreneur, Hunt noticed her passion for taking care of people and growing as an individual at her own pace. From there, Flawlyss Co. LLC, her licensed nail care business, was born.

Hunt told us, “I solidified my business by receiving my LLC and completing a 16-month program at Denmark College where I received my cosmetology license.”

Flawlyss Co. LLC is currently home-based, but Hunt has hopes, with her strong belief in God, that her business will soon grow beyond where she resides. Hunt emphasized she owes the success of her business to the referrals she receives from her clients. She takes pride in creating a meaningful experience to all her customers, and attests to this adding to the growth of her business.

Hardships are no strangers to business owners.

Hunt recalled the beginning stages of Flawlyss. “My business wasn’t going as well as I had envisioned. Within three months I had to pack up and move back home. This has contributed to my success now because I am able to learn from my previous mistakes.”

Hunt told us the biggest achievement for Flawlyss Co. LLC came in February 2024 when she celebrated her 4-year anniversary as a licensed nail tech. For Hunt, the celebration was bittersweet.

Hunt insisted this proved to her that although there were points where she wanted to give up her dreams and pursue other paths, she still persevered through it all and has been striving to make a name for herself ever since. Hunt has also placed second in a few nail design competitions and gained clients through her business cards discounts at Target.

With much success and continued support from family and friends, Hunt hopes that future entrepreneurs choose their own identities for themselves. “To any aspiring entrepreneur, I would say be yourself. Stay focused on your path, as sometimes we can get too caught up in other’s lives and lose sight of our own. Stay humble and keep God at the center of your personal life and business.”
