A place where kids, teens, and adults can have fun together

Just opened in Hammond this month, Ninja Kidz Action Park is the newest entry into our fascination for places with fun challenges.

The park is a combination of American Ninja Warrior inspired obstacle courses and everyday activities like basketball and dodgeball -- all performed on trampoline pads that let you jump higher and come down easier. There are slides and even a zipline.

“It is great to see an establishment like this in our backyard, a safe and fun place for kids to go after school and on weekends,” said Hammond Mayor Tom McDermott at Tuesday’s ribbon cutting.

The park has the same concept as Schererville’s Skyzone, a gathering space for parties and group events.

“My dream is that Ninja Kidz becomes the Disney of healthy, active families,” Ninja Kidz TV Founder Shane Myler said in a statement. “I want Ninja Kidz Action Parks to be a place where kids, teens, and adults can learn new skills, build strong bodies, and have fun together.”

Ninja Kidz Action Park is in the same building with the Kube Sports Complex, the arena for ice hockey and ice skating located in Hammond’s Dowling Park, at 2825 J.F. Mahoney Drive, off the north Kennedy Avenue exit of the Bormann Expressway (I-80/94).
