Comedy, Gospel, R&B, Rap, and tribute to Michael Jackson mark WSTG 27th year-end celebration

During the holiday season, it has been customary for over 27 years to head over to West Side Theatre in Gary, IN to watch a rousing performance of “LYRICS” presented by the West Side Theatre Guild.

This year’s production will pay homage to many trail blazers of the art form. Artist tributes include Earth, Wind & Fire, Janet Jackson, Deniece Williams, Luther Vandross, Michael Jackson, Gospel music and 50 years of Hip Hop.

“LYRICS Soul Celebration” will take place on Friday, December 15th at 7pm.

“Soul Celebration” will include performances in the disciplines of dance, vocal music, band, drama and visual art. Over 100 students of the Gary Community School Corporation will perform, along with Pharis Evans Jr. and Loved Ones (recently #1 on Billboard’s Gospel Hits); Ed Hollis, masterful impersonator of Michael Jackson; comedian Donald Martin; R & B and rap group EOS; and a special performance by Mary Comer, Interim Chief Financial Officer for the Gary Schools. Comer will make her solo dance debut on the West Side Theatre Guild Stage!

Tickets are free to the public. Tickets are available at the Gary YWCA, Urban League of Northwest Indiana and West Side Leadership Academy.

West Side ticket hours are 9am to 11am and 1pm to 2pm daily; 900 Gerry Street, Gary.

“Soul” is produced and directed by Mark Spencer, M.Ed., Director of Fine Arts, GCSC.
