School's out and GHCS FREE Summer Program is in

Starts June 19 for youth, ages 6 to 14

Children and youth, ages 6 to 14, may enroll in the "Summer Enrichment for Learning" Program, a free, high quality program with over 12 classes designed to develop future positive citizens.

The 5-week program begins June 19 through July 20, 2017, Monday - Thursday, 9am-12:30pm with lunch. Classes are free for Gary residents. Summer visitors and those residing outside of Gary may also enroll for $10 per day or $20 per week. All registrants pay a one-time $10 registration and materials fee per child, if able. Donors who wish to sponsor a student are always welcomed to help keep this program free.

The program is located at Gary’s St. John Lutheran Church, 10th & Taft St. Enter from the parking lot. Students may choose 4 favorite classes from the following: arts and crafts, drawing, drums, violin, cello, wind instruments, guitar, Taekwondo kidnap prevention, anger management, speech & drama, creative writing, photography, social living skills and Girl Scouts.

Daily math and reading enrichment is required. Lunch is provided daily by Gary's Youth Services Bureau.

Schools and churches may also call to get early applications delivered. All classes are taught by professionals. Gary Civic Symphony musicians teach the music classes.
