Indiana's Gov. Eric Holcomb and State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box announced at Wednesday's COVID-19 update that more Hoosiers will be elgible for vaccinations.

Indiana reduced the age eligibility to receive the vaccinations. Now, residents between the ages of 60 and 64 can register to schedule a vaccination.

The Indiana Department of Health will host 10 mobile vaccine clinics for eligible Hoosiers around the state from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, February 25 to February 27. The clinics are being added to areas where there are currently no open vaccine appointments.

Lake County's mobile clinic is located at Ivy Tech Community College, 410 E. Columbus Dr., East Chicago.

In LaPorte County, the mobile clinic is at Ivy Tech Community College, 3714 Franklin St., Michigan City.

Individuals must register in advance at https://ourshot.in.gov. No walk-ups will be allowed.

Effective immediately, only individuals who live in Indiana and meet the eligibility criteria can receive a vaccine at an Indiana clinic.

"Previously, we permitted out-of-state residents who worked in Indiana to receive a shot. Now, this will no longer be allowed," said Dr. Box. "This will ensure that doses allocated to Indiana go to Hoosiers. All clinics have been reminded to verify eligibility prior to administering a vaccine."

Out-of-state residents who received their first dose in Indiana can still receive their second dose at the same clinic.

Indiana is expanding the eligibility list to receive the vaccine to age 16 and over with underlying health risk factors, in five categories. This week, the Indiana State Dept. of Health will begin vaccinating 10,000 residents undergoing dialysis.

In coming weeks, the list will expand to residents with sickle cell disease, solid organ transplants, and Downs Syndrome. Category 5 is cancer patients who are currently undergoing treatment or have had treatment in the last 3 months. This includes cancer of the lungs, leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.

Dr. Lindsay Weaver, ISDH Chief Medical Officer, said it is important that residents with those risk factors contact ther medical providers and proviide them with the most current contact information.

Residents who are homebound and unable to travel to a vaccine site can now get vaccinated using the Hoosier Homebound Program, a partnership with local fire departments EMS and the state health department. Local EMS personnel will visit the home and administer the vaccine.

To register for a vaccine with the Hoosier Homebound Program, call the Indiana Area Agency on Aging at (800) 986-3505 or visit iaaa.org
