The Northern Indiana (IN) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated will host its 12th Annual Kentucky Derby Fundraiser virtually on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. DJ ALL OWT will host the affair, and entertainment will be provided by famed Chicago-born comedian Damon Williams.
The Derby continues to be one of the NWI community’s high-profile events where attendees get dressed in their fanciest Derby attire. Funds raised support college scholarships, various program initiatives including STEM activities at Frankie McCullough Academy, a NSBE Jr. Chapter at Thea Bowman, bullying, chronic kidney disease (CKD), diabetes, mental health awareness, prostate and breast cancer awareness, heart disease and more.
According to Northern Indiana Links Chapter President Alesia Pritchett, support of the Derby is important for these programs to continue.
“Our Kentucky Derby annual fundraiser is one of our largest initiatives and helps ensure funding for programs that our chapter holds near and dear,” said Pritchett. “We are grateful that our community comes forward in generosity each year, and we expect that enthusiastic support this year as well.”
Virtual admission is $25 for the Kentucky Derby Fundraiser and can be purchased here via Eventbrite.
“This year’s raffle prize line-up includes all cash prizes, and no one ever complains about a chance to win money,” said Fundraising Chair Keisha White.
Raffle tickets are available for $25, and the prizes are as follows:
1st Place - $1,500
2nd Place - $1,000
3rd Place - $500
4th Place - $250
5th Place - $150
Raffle tickets can be purchased by contacting the Fundraiser Chair, Keisha White at kwhite11298@yahoo.com. Participants must be 18 years or older to purchase a ticket.
The raffle drawing will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Community HealthNet Health Care Center, 3503 Martin Luther King Dr, Gary, IND. The drawing will also be streamed live via Facebook on the Northern Indiana (IN) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated page.
Our chapter programming and scholarships happen because of gracious partners and generous contributors in the community. Derby Sponsors thus far include Haywood & Fleming, Powers & Sons, Gary Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Methodist Hospitals, NAACP Gary Branch, Conduit Investment Advisors, Freedom Inc., Politicking and Divinity Funeral Home.
Opportunities to support the Derby are still available. For more information about sponsorships or questions about our annual fundraiser, please contact Fundraising Chair Keisha White at kwhite11298@yahoo.com or 219-308-4738. For general information, visit www.northerninlinks.org.
