Gary Public Library updates service hours

Face coverings at all library locations are still mandatory, but no restrictions on attendance

The Gary Public Library announces new service updates effective June 15, 2021. Patrons may now use the library without limited capacity or time restrictions, except when using public computers.

All fines and fees, including those for faxes, copies, prints, and lost or damaged materials will be reinstated. Online pay for fines and fees will be available.

The Kennedy Branch, 3951 Broadway and the Woodson Branch, 501 S. Lake Street, will continue to provide curbside service two days a week. In addition, Kennedy will be open to the public on Tuesdays, 10am to 4pm and Woodson will be open on Wednesdays, 10am to 4pm.

The Indiana Room, located in the Gary Public Library and Cultural Center, 220 W. 5th Avenue will be open by appointment only, beginning June 22. Appointment days and times are available on the library’s website, www.garypubliclibrary.org.

Face coverings at all library locations are still mandatory. Meeting rooms system wide and the Wi-Fi lounge at the main branch, are unavailable until further notice. Access to library facilities and services may be limited at times.

Hours are subject to change based on staff availability.
