Snow-clogged streets delay Gary schools reopening to Monday

Difficult for students to walk and buses to access routes
The Gary Community School Corp. announced late Wednesday afternoon that schools will not reopen Thursday.
Due to the vast accumulation of snow, the return of students to buildings has been postponed until Monday, February 22, 2021. Online instruction will take place Thursday and Friday.
According to a GCSC press release, "After conducting today's practice run with school buses, it was determined that many streets throughout the city have excessive amounts of snow making it difficult for students to walk and buses to access routes. The safety of our students and staff comes first!"
Thursday's food distribution will still take place at all four locations via curbside pick up.
