Will host “Can We Talk?" community forums

Jerome Prince, the Democratic candidate without an opponent in the Gary mayoral race in November’s General Election is not sitting still, announcing he will host “Can We Talk?” listening tours in each of the city’s 6 districts.

The first community exchange is scheduled for June 28, 2019, at 6 p.m., at 3885 Broadway, his campaign headquarters.

“Gary is facing unique and serious challenges that go along with any city that has lost significant population and operating revenue. No one has all the answers, and that includes me,” Prince said in a statement. “I am humbly inviting you to come to the table with any ideas or suggestions you may have, especially those who have been left out of the process so far, because I know we have some amazing but untapped talent right here in Gary.”

The sessions are designed to provide citizens with an increased say in how their city is run. All members of the public are invited to attend and participate in the discussion. The format will be informal, conversational, and relaxed, so that people feel comfortable sharing their ideas.

Discussion topics are not limited, participants are invited to offer their ideas and suggestions on some of the major challenges facing Gary.

Reservations are not necessary; subsequent meeting locations and dates will be announced.
