Conversation with Junifer Hall on creation of Martin Luther King, Jr. National Holiday
For the third year, Indiana University will host its annual Social Justice Conference to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 16, 2023. The theme of the conference is "The Audacity to Believe in Dignity, Equity, and Freedom,” taken from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech.
The IU Northwest Office of Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs will contribute to the conference with a session entitled, "The Path to the Creation of the MLK Jr. Holiday: A Conversation with the Katie Hall Foundation."
This session will include a conversation with Junifer Hall as she discusses the work of her late mother Rep. Katie Hall, who was widely credited with sponsoring legislation to make Dr. King’s birthday a national holiday. (Noon CT | Virtual | January 16)
The virtual portion of the conference occurs between 9 am and 3 pm EST.
