Popcorn World in Gary fills order for 11,000 bags of popcorn

All it took was a few product samples from Popcorn World in Gary, Indiana, and the management team at Fresenius Kabi were hooked. The pharmaceutical company reps were so enamored by the popcorn flavors they ordered 11,000 bags for their Employee Appreciation Day slated for March 5th.

"When I first read the order, I thought it said 1,100 until my husband corrected me," said Nina Burton, co-owner of Popcorn World with husband LeBarron Burton, Sr. "I'm tired, but the good kind of tired. We pulled together as a team and a village to get this order done."

Burton added that this is the largest order they have ever received after being in business for nearly 10 years at various locations in Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland.

In addition to the Popcorn World staff and Burton family, members of the West Side Leadership Academy Football team stopped by to help pack the popcorn for shipping. LeBarron Burton, Sr. said he was confident that, with all hands on deck, they could get the job done in a professional and timely fashion.

"Whether the order is large or small, we stick with the same concept of being professional and delivering a quality product," said Burton. "I want Fresenius Kabi to know that they picked the best, and we are ready for more orders."

According to its website, Fresenius Kabi has offices across the country and globally. Their U.S. employees will receive a post card of appreciation along with various flavors of popcorn from Popcorn World.

"Orders like these make us dream bigger and is a reminder that there are great businesses right here in Gary, Indiana," said Nina Burton, who is a Gary native and graduate of West Side High School.

Popcorn World is located at 2560 Garfield St. in Gary with other locations in Michigan City, IN and Oak Lawn, IL. They boast more than 250 flavors.
