Indpls. – State Senator Greg Taylor (D-Indianapolis) was selected as the next Leader of the Indiana Senate Democratic Caucus. This marks a historic leadership election as Sen. Taylor now becomes the first Black leader of a legislative caucus in Indiana.

In addition, other selected caucus positions were:
State Senator Eddie Melton (D-Gary), Assistant Minority Leader
State Senator J.D. Ford (D-Indianapolis), Minority Caucus Chair
State Senator Lonnie Randolph (D-East Chicago), Minority Whip
State Senator Shelli Yoder (D-Bloomington), Assistant Minority Caucus Chair

"I am excited to work with my fellow members of the Democratic Caucus to tackle many important issues in this next General Assembly," Sen. Taylor said. "Our caucus members have always been champions for protecting Hoosier workers, protecting your right to vote and making sure our justice system treats every Hoosier fairly.

"This pandemic has certainly pulled back the curtain on how far behind Indiana is on many of these issues. Our state government has to do better at protecting the residents of this state. I can assure you that the Senate Democrats will continue to stand for every Hoosier during this legislative session and beyond."

Sen. Taylor represents Senate District 33 which includes portions of Wayne, Pike, Washington and Center townships in Marion County.
