Gary Public Library offering new services

Curbside pickup, wireless printing help with distribution while building is closed

The Gary Public Library is now offering Curbside Pickup for library materials, wireless printing and mobile computer lobby services, available only at the Gary Public Library and Cultural Center, 220 W. 5th Avenue.

Curbside Pickup is available Monday through Friday, 10am to 4pm. Patrons with a valid library card (in good standing) may request books, dvds, audiobooks. Patrons may log on to their library account or call Reference Services, 886-2484 ext. 106 to request items. Number and type of items available to borrow are limited.

Wireless printing is also available from the library’s website with curbside pickup. Number of printed pages per request are limited to 10 black & white and 4 color pages, provided at no charge.

Mobile computer lobby services begin Wednesday, June 17 and are available by appointment only, Monday through Friday, 9am – 4pm. Enter through the north/parking lot side doors. Masks are required and no public restrooms are available. Contact 219-886-2484 ext. 102 to make an appointment.

Computer usage is limited to one 30-minute session per day, one patron per appointment. A wireless printer to copy, scan or email printed or digital documents will also be available. The mobile carts and wireless all-in-one printer were made possible in whole by a grant from the Lake County COVID-19 Response Fund and the Legacy Foundation.

The Gary Public Library is still here to serve while the buildings are closed. Check out the library's online and virtual services available on the library’s website including databases, eBooks, streaming music, movies and more.
