Endorsements come from Pete Visclosky and United Steelworkers union

U.S. Rep. Pete Visclosky knows Frank Mrvan and so does Mike Milsap, United Steelworkers District 7 Director. Last Saturday, they stood with Mrvan to announce their support for him to take retiring Visclosky's place as Indiana's 1st District Congressman.

Mrvan said he was humbled to gain both endorsements on the same day. “I will do my very best to build on the successes of current Congressman Pete Visclosky and be a champion for all steelworkers and the domestic steel and manufacturing industries,” Mrvan said.

Visclosky said he has seen in Mrvan a steadfast dedication to Northwest Indiana. "In every project I have worked with him on -- supporting veterans, workforce training, housing assistance, programs for children and the elderly -- Mrvan has been tireless and selfless."

“I also appreciate the thorough and comprehensive selection process taken by the USW and District Director Mike Millsap in their endorsement process on behalf of all of their active members and retirees," Mrvan said.

Mrvan, the North Township Trustee, faces a field of 13 in the May 5th Democratic Primary. Well-known candidates in the race are Hammond Mayor Tom McDermott and Valparaiso Atty. Jim Harper.
