Four films and a workshop for actors will headline when The Glen Theatre hosts the 1st annual Bill Johnson Summer Black Film Festival, May 31-June 1.

For the last 8 years, Johnson, a Gary native, has presented his film festivals at The Glen during Black History Month. The film actor and director is a graduate of the Emerson School of Visual and Performing Arts.

Johnson will conduct an Actors Workshop at 6:30 p.m., Friday, May 31. The workshop will focus on adapting, assuming, connecting with the character, and effective delivery techniques. There will also be cold reading of scripts. The cost for the workshop is $25.

Movie shorts “Miss Represent,” “Funk Force 2018,” and “Exposing Politics” will precede the featured film, Benedict Dorsey’s “The Advice” on Saturday, June 1.

Artistic talent, actors and producers will answer questions following the movies.

Tickets in advance are $10 and the cost at the door is $15. Persons attending the 8th Annual Festival held in February will be admitted free if they have the complimentary tickets issued at that festival.
