Nearly a week apart, wife, then husband are murder victims

Two men found shot to death on far westside streets in 24 hours

Commander Jack Hamady of the Gary Police Dept. announced police are investigating a second homicide in the last 24 hours.

Gary Police responded to a call received on Monday, February 25th, at approximately 12:22 p.m., to the 2500 block of Calhoun Street, Gary, Indiana, in reference to a man down.

The caller stated there was a possible male subject laying in the ditch. Officers arrived and met with the caller who directed officers to the location where the male was laying. Officers found the male unresponsive. Gary Fire Department paramedics arrived on scene and advised that there were no signs of life.

The Lake County Coroner’s office has identified the man as Jimmy Valentine, 55, of Gary.

According to the NWI Times, Jimmy Valentine's wife, Tracy Valentine, 48, of Hobart, and Timothy Snow, 55, of Hammond, were found dead Wednesday, February 20 inside a home in the 400 block of Johnson Street in Gary.

A property owner told police he found their bodies after entering the home to complete some work.

On Sunday, February 24th, Gary Police responded to a call received at approximately 9:10 p.m., in reference to a man down in the 2400 block of Jennings.

The caller said there was a possible gunshot wound victim near a vehicle. Officers arrived and located a male laying on the ground near a vehicle. Officers immediately called for the Gary Fire Department paramedics who arrived on scene and advised that there were no signs of life.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the victim’s identification.
