Tadros awards $300 gift cards to Gary Community Schools honor students

Businessman gives back to community
Ten Gary Community School Corp. honor students were awarded $300 gift cards by Gary businessman Omar Tadros, owner of Economy, Discount, and Champ’s liquor stores.
Tadros asked State Rep. Dr. Vernon G. Smith to help organize the selection of students. Smith said, “Tadros is a rarity; he wanted to give back to this community that has been so supportive of his businesses.” Tadros’ son, George, an 11th grade honor student in Crown Point spoke to the students and encouraged them to continue doing well in their academic pursuits.
The gift cards were awarded to Donovan Hope-Browder, Bailey; Jailah Smith, Banneker; Shaniyah Hearst, Beveridge; Madison Moses, Glen Park Academy; Rashel Carswell, Marquette; Kamelah Freeman and Mikayla Sanders, McCullough; Kori Stout, Williams; Kelechi Green, Wirt-Emerson; and Jazmin Green, West Side.
