Train hits vehicle, two die in Miller rail crossing

Woman and young child are victims
The Lake County Coroner has released the identities of the adult woman and child who died after their vehicle was struck by a train in the area of Lake Street and Miller Avenue in Gary.
Janetta McClellan, age 57, and Eric McClellan, age 7 were the victims.
According to Gary Police Dept. public information officer Lt. Dawn Westerfield, Gary Police responded to a call for service at 8:05 a.m., Tuesday, February 6. Officers found a green Chevy truck had been hit by an eastbound freight train. The victims were the only passengers.
