Bank robber threatens teller with a bomb

Chase Bank robber escapes with undetermined amount of cash

A Chase Bank branch in Gary was robbed Wednesday afternoon by a man who told the teller he had a bomb.

The call for service came to the Gary Police Dept. at 3:53 p.m. Wednesday, February 20 from the Chase Bank, located at 3680 Broadway

Officers arrived and met with bank personnel, who identified the suspect as a black male, about 6’2” tall with a slim build. He was described as having a light skin color, with a handlebar mustache or goatee, dreadlocks down to his shoulders and wearing a black jacket and pants.

The robber fled the building on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. He was last seen heading south on Broadway.
